Ash Print (Commission)
Available soon, watch this space…
Lena’s ash prints are made with a small quantity of cremation ash and each is as unique as as a fingerprint. Alternatively, Lena can use earth from a grave, burnt fabric from a shroud or any other meaningful organic material to create a memorial art work in this way.
The process uses sunlight to separate particles of cremation ash to form a unique image, pertinent only to the individual. The process, the particles, the chemistry and sunlight dictates how this image is formed, she says she is "merely the conductor of this orchestra.”
The original ash prints will darken over time unless fixed, which we really like but Lena also captures them digitally at their most colourful moment, to provide the option of a giclee fine art print.
